Nagesh Trophy MEMORANDUM
It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that National t20 Nagesh trophy cricket tournament for the blind will be conducted by Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), under the auspices of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled from the mid of November 2018 till mid of February 2019 at country level. In the three month event, twenty four States of India will participate in the tournament and will play t20 matches with the teams lined-up in four pools for the league matches followed with quarterfinal, semifinal and final championship match as per the schedule. In total there will be sixty seven matches to complete the national championship. Each pool will complete fifteen games in three venues. Total of twelve schedule venue will have five league matches to complete sixty games. Four quarterfinal games will have separate venue hosted by State associations followed by a common venue for semifinal and final match hosted by CABI.
You will be glad to know that this is for the first time in the India that the Nagesh trophy (t20) Tournament for the Blind is being organized. The goal of the Nagesh trophy is to develop a structure which is in line with Ranjeet trophy and create a wider platform to cricket for the blind. The objective is:
1. To develop a platform like that of BCCI tournaments which supports in bringing dignity in the life of blind cricketers?
2. Provide opportunity to visual impaired players to showcase their best sports performance, so that they represent country and as well as be a team member of BCL-(Bharat Cricket League) together with all national and international tournaments.
Nagesh trophy is a platform which will create opportunity to all the State association to strengthen local boards and cricketing talent amongst unreached
visual impaired together with career opportunity through the game of cricket. During the first year of its launch in memory of Late. SP Nagesh, who was a role model, sports person bringing change in the life of people with disability. Late. Shri SP Nagesh despite of low vision showed the path to visual impaired persons to how to make the dreams come true., he not only establish the Cricket Association for the Blind in India with his friend Mr. Mahantesh GK. But as a first President of CABI who led the country to have its first ever ODI and t20 World Cup along with Asia cup under his guidance.
CABI Taking forward the score moving of SP Nagesh, the first ever national championship where entire States will be in common floor to flag off the contest, the players, officials and governing members of all the affiliated boards will have a new vision of blind cricket; The Nagesh Trophy will have:
The Chairperson of the Nagesh Trophy will be Mr. Henry Rajanish (Sr. Vice President CABI), under whose guidance and direction the tournament will take place.
The tournament will have management committee consisting of Gen. Secretary with all the four Zonal Secretaries, Vice President, Treasurer of CABI and four group leaders from each pool.
CABI will provide all venue host of league matches with the financial support of Rs.1,50000/-
All the venue host of quarterfinal match will receive Rs.40000/- as financial assistance.
Each State team traveling to venues to play games will get funding support of-
a) Team travelling upto the time distance of 12 to 14 hours will get Rs.10,000/- for each event
b) Team travelling upto the time distance of 24 to 30 hours will get Rs.15,000/- for each event
c) Team travelling upto the time distance of 36 hours and above will get Rs.20,000/- for each event
D) Team traveling above 48 hours will get traveling allowances as per actual submission of expenses, but not exceeding the Rs.25,000/-
e) Travel allowances for quarterfinal and semi and final match is fix to Rs.10,000/- for the teams qualifying for it.
The player of the match for every game starting from league matches to championship final match will receive Rs.3000/- Towards this each venue host has to pay from the financial assistance received from CABI.
The player of the series in each category of B1 B2 and B3 will receive Rs.10,000/-
Every State board will get funds of Rs.48, 000/- to pay match fee to each player participating in the Nagesh Trophy. “one match fee of league matches will be Rs.600/- per player”
Each State team going out of quarterfinal match will receive cash award of Rs.24,000/-
The semifinalist team unable to reach finals will get cash award of Rs.40,000/-
The runners-up team of Nagesh Trophy will receive cash award of Rs.75,000/-
The Nagesh Trophy champion team will receive cash award of Rs.100000/-
The game officials like, umpire and scorer will receive match fee of each game as Rs.600/-. Towards this every venue host has to pay from financial assistance received from CABI.
Every event will have two officials from CABI as an observant and match referee. The travel allowances of which will be taken care by CABI.
The State team will have uniforms which will be provided by CABI
The semifinal and championship final matches will be hosted by CABI which will be inclusive of all the awards, trophies, closing ceremony and lodgistic support under the guidance and management of tournament committee.
All State boards participating in the Nagesh Trophy have to follow the norms mention in guideline cum code of conduct document in coordination with respective Zonal Secretaries.
